Watch: Georgia DB gets away with dropping ball before end zone on pick six
Georgia cornerback Deandre Baker had a great moment on Saturday when he completed a pix six against the South Carolina Gamecocks, but he was pretty lucky to get away with a big blunder in the process.
Baker appeared to drop the football in celebration just before he crossed the goal line, not after, which should have been ruled a fumble. The referees missed it and gave Baker the touchdown.
You can judge for yourself whether Baker had possession as he crossed the goal line.
Georgia scores, but it sure looks like Deandre Baker dropped the ball before crossing the endzone. pic.twitter.com/q53G6Ou95J

A pick-six that shouldn’t have been. Baker certainly dropped the ball before the line. pic.twitter.com/Exl8sI6kkA

One of Baker’s teammates may have at least scooped up the football to make it a moot point, but the referees had already called the touchdown on the field. Things like this are somewhat common among players, but the refs missing it is pretty bad.
