Lane Kiffin thinks his Ole Miss Rebels have received a raw deal from those in charge of SEC scheduling.
Kiffin on Monday was not happy that Ole Miss’ Nov. 9 home game against Georgia was handed an afternoon start time rather than a nighttime kickoff. Kiffin clearly feels night kickoffs are an advantage, and he singled out LSU while arguing that the SEC has bypassed the Rebels for those kickoff times.
“I think that’s proven over time in the NFL and college. Playing at night in electric atmospheres is a home field advantage, and tough when you got to do that as an opposing team,” Kiffin said. “That’s been proven for a long time. LSU gets to play at night again? Shocker. So that’s two-for-two for them. It is an advantage. I feel bad for our fans. Not having one night conference game is really unfortunate for them. It’s really disappointing, but it is what it is.”

Lane Kiffin called out the SEC for always giving LSU night games:
“LSU gets to play at night again, I guess? Shocker. That’s two for two for them. I feel bad for our fans not having one night conference game.”

Kiffin’s shot at LSU was because the Tigers got the night kickoff on Nov. 9, as they are hosting Alabama. It is the second time LSU has received an SEC night game at home; Ole Miss had to face them at Tiger Stadium in primetime on Oct. 12. In contrast, Ole Miss has yet to get any such games this season. Their matchup with Georgia was probably their best chance of getting one.
Kiffin is not shy about trying to gain advantages through the media. Perhaps he is trying to send a message to the SEC for 2025, because it looks unlikely the Rebels will be hosting a primetime game this season.
