A former college football player who was teammates with Lamar Jackson at Louisville has died.

The Louisville football program announced on Monday that former linebacker P.J. Blue has died. He was 27.

No cause of death had been given as of Tuesday.

Blue committed to Louisville in 2016. The former 3-star prospect took a redshirt year as a freshman and then missed all of 2017 after he suffered a torn ACL. Blue finally got onto the field in 2018 and recorded 39 tackles in 11 games, but he missed the entire 2019 season with another knee injury.

Jackson played at Louisville from 2015-2017, so he was teammates with Blue for two seasons.

Blue, an Alabama native, was a star at Park Crossing High School in Montgomery prior to enrolling at Louisville. He had offers from Alabama and Clemson, among other schools.
