Former 5-star QB transfers to surprising school

Boise State has landed a major player.

Former 5-star quarterback recruit Malachi Nelson announced on Saturday that he has committed to play for the Broncos.

Nelson was ranked as the No. 12 player nationally by 247 Sports’ composite rankings for the class of 2023. He was the No. 5 quarterback nationally and had scholarship offers from multiple schools.

Nelson spent this season at USC but did not see much playing time. He appeared in just one game for the Trojans this season and went 1/3 in USC’s opener against San Jose State.

A big part of Boise State’s appeal is that Nelson should be able to play immediately next season.
