Miami RB Mark Walton to undergo ankle surgery
Miami announced on Sunday that junior running back Mark Walton will undergo ankle surgery after suffering an injury in Saturday’s win over Florida State.
In its statement on the surgery, Miami said there was no timetable for Walton’s return:

However, Hurricanes head coach Mark Richt called it a season-ending surgery.

Walton, who has been a top back for Miami since his freshman season, rushed for 428 yards on 56 carries this season for the 4-0 Hurricanes.
Travis Homer will likely see increased work with Walton out. There is also some speculation that Walton could opt to enter the NFL Draft next year, meaning his ‘Canes career is in question.
