Mississippi State and Texas Tech will be giving us an SEC-Big 12 non-conference battle in about a decade.
FBschedules.com reported on Monday that the two programs have agreed to a home-and-home football series for 2028 and 2029. They say the first game will be played in Starkville and the 2029 edition in Lubbock. The games will be played in early September.
The programs have played seven times total in their history, with the most recent meeting coming in 1970.
Nobody knows what the status of each program will be by the time they meet considering how far in advanced these games are scheduled. But based on the recent history of each program, this would provide a solid early season test for both parties.
