UCLA redshirt freshman wide receiver Nick Pasquale had alcohol in his system when he was hit by a car and killed in the early hours of Sept. 8 in his hometown of San Clemente, Calif.

NBC 4 LA reported on Thursday that Pasquale had alcohol in his system when he was killed. The cause of death was blunt force trauma from being hit by the car.

Lt. Jeff Hallock, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, told Larry Brown Sports that the toxicology report showed that Pasquale had a 0.26 blood alcohol level at the time of his death.

The Bruins dedicated their next game — a comeback victory at Nebraska — to Pasquale. A week later they ran their first offensive play against New Mexico State with just 10 players as a tribute to the deceased walk-on. UCLA has also been wearing patches on their jerseys featured Pasquale’s No. 36.
