Nick Starkel considering transfer to Ohio State
Ohio State has an extra scholarship available at the quarterback position now that Tate Martell has transferred, and the player who might end up filling that spot is one Buckeyes fans should be familiar with.
Texas A&M quarterback Nick Starkel announced this week that he is exploring the possibility of transferring, and he said Wednesday that Ohio State is among the programs he is looking at.
Texas A&M QB Nick Starkel will hit the transfer portal any minute now & will not participate in spring practice, he said. Will complete 120 hours before July & should be on new campus July 1. Said he's looking at Duke, Ohio State, SMU & Arizona (former HC Kevin Sumlin).

Starkel is leaving Texas A&M as a graduate transfer, meaning he will be eligible to play immediately at a new school. He’s unlikely to see any significant playing time at Ohio State, especially if Georgia transfer Justin Fields is able to obtain an eligibility waiver for 2019. However, his history with Martell is noteworthy.
Martell was committed to Texas A&M before he ended up at Ohio State, and a conversation leaked of Martell saying some unflattering things about Starkel. Martell’s point was that he believed he could start as a true freshman for the Aggies due to Starkel’s lack of skill.
While the two obviously would not be teammates with Martell now at Miami, it would be quite ironic if Starkel landed at Ohio State.
