Ohio State student who ran onto field loses scholarship
The Ohio State student who ran onto the field at Ohio Stadium during Saturday’s Buckeyes-Cincinnati Bearcats game and was tackled by a Buckeyes assistant coach has lost his full-ride scholarship, his attorney said Tuesday.
The student, 21-year-old Anthony Wunder, ran onto the field during the second quarter and was quickly taken down and bodyslammed by assistant Anthony Schlegel, a former Buckeyes linebacker. Wunder was booked into jail and released after posting a $79 bond Sunday. He has been charged with fourth-degree criminal-trespassing, which is a misdemeanor.
According to The Columbus Dispatch, Wunder’s attorney says his client lost his scholarship with the Evans Scholars program, which is given to students who have served as golf caddies. The attorney also says Wunder is no longer living in the Evans Scholars house.
It’s a tough break for Wunder and seems like a pretty extreme measure. The student was in his fourth year of a five-year engineering program. He will be looking at ways to try getting back his scholarship.
