Pat Fitzgerald is not happy about one particular item on his Northwestern Wildcats’ schedule for next season.
Northwestern will host Ohio State on Oct. 18, which is a Friday night. Fitzgerald is not happy about that development because he believes Friday nights should be for high school football rather than college games.
“This one was out of our control,” Fitzgerald told the Chicago Tribune on Tuesday. “Didn’t get a vote on this. I understand why we’re doing this, but it does not make me happy. I still fundamentally believe that Fridays are for high school football.”
Not only will the game conflict with the high school games, but playing during the work week could make it a challenge for fans to attend and tailgate.
This will be Ohio State’s first time at Evanston since 2013. The two teams met in this year’s Big Ten Championship Game, with the Buckeyes winning 45-24.
