Audio of a scuffle between former Alabama State head football coach Reggie Barlow and an Alabama State University board member was released Thursday, and it paints an ugly picture.
Barlow (pictured) is suing the school for wrongful termination after being voted out of his job a few games into last season. As part of his suit, board member Herbert Young was scheduled to be deposed by Barlow’s attorney Thursday. Young apparently objected to the way he was being treated during the questioning and became irate. He allegedly went after Barlow and Barlow’s attorney.
“He’s got him [Barlow] around the neck trying to throw punches at him, slamming his head up against the door,” Barlow’s attorney Donald Jackson told WSFA Montgomery. “It sort of degenerated from there.”
Young says it was the other way around and that Barlow is the one who assaulted him.
Both men filed assault charges with police over the incident.
“You’re a mediocre motherf—er” might have been the harshest phrase uttered during the exchange.
Barlow told WSFA that he’s played in the NFL and never had anyone come after him the way Young allegedly did. That audio was nutty.
