Ohio State wide receiver Chris Olave held himself responsible for the team’s breakdown and interception at the end of the College Football Playoff defeat to Clemson, and it sounds like he had a very hard time getting through the aftermath.
Olave took the blame for Justin Fields’ game-ending interception from the Clemson 23 in the Buckeyes’ 29-23 loss, admitting that he’d broken off his route because he thought Fields was going to scramble. Coach Ryan Day shed new light on just how hard Olave took that defeat when speaking on Wednesday.
OSU coach Ryan Day on Chris Olave: "I'm not sure he ate solid food for three or four days after (the Clemson loss). He was crushed. … But that's not why we lost that game."

That’s just brutal, especially when there were other reasons Ohio State lost that game that ultimately were out of their control. It wasn’t just down to Olave’s error.
The good news? Olave, who caught 12 touchdowns for the Buckeyes in 2019, is only a sophomore, and he’ll be returning next year. It sounds like he’ll want to make things right, even if he doesn’t need to.
