Tom Herman done responding to ‘bogus’ reports

Tom Herman Houston

One of the constant storylines of the college football season has been Tom Herman being rumored for potential jobs and then the coach shooting down the reports. The same was the case this week.

After Texas lost yet again and fell to 3-4 under Charlie Strong, a report said Herman to Texas was “all but done.”

On Tuesday, the Houston Cougars coach responded to that report and said he was done policing the information with statements.

“I’m done being the media police. I’m done chasing down erroneous reports. I’m done putting out statements to refute bogus information,” Herman said via FOX 26’s Mark Berman. “That’s not my job. My job is to concern myself with the players on this team and get them ready for the football game.”

Though Herman did sign an extension with Houston last fall, the thought of him remaining with the Cougars long term seemed to hit a snag recently when the Big 12 said they were not going to be expanding. With Herman no longer set to receive a massive financial payday for Houston joining a Power 5 conference, going elsewhere could be enticing.

Of course, Herman and his Cougars need to finish strong otherwise the luster may start to wear off Herman.
