Former Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Austin Simmons has moved on from Oxford.

After entering the transfer portal, Simmons landed at Missouri, and he has now won the Tigers’ QB1 job even before April begins.

Simmons entered the portal after Ole Miss’ stunning 39-34 win over No. 3 Georgia in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal at the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

At the time, the expectation was that Simmons would go to Missouri, and he did just that and has now won the starting job.

Simmons began the 2025 season as the starter for Ole Miss, but he suffered an ankle injury and ended up being replaced by Ferris State transfer Trinidad Chambliss, who became a household name after an electrifying College Football Playoff run.

The future with Chambliss at Ole Miss has taken plenty of turns, but the NCAA decided to appeal after the Rebels’ QB was given an injunction allowing him to play one more year in college.

Simmons threw for 744 yards with four touchdowns and five interceptions in just five total games for Ole Miss in 2025.

The other QBs on Missouri’s roster are Matt Zollers, UConn transfer Nick Evers and true freshman Gavin Sidwar, but Simmons will begin the year as the starter.
