The Texas Longhorns are stumbling to the finish line this season after entering the year with College Football Playoff aspirations, and head coach Tom Herman may not wait much longer to start making coaching staff changes.
Texas is looking to close out the regular season with a win over rival Texas Tech on Friday, and Anwar Richardson of OrangeBloods.com reports that Herman could make changes to his staff after that game even if the Longhorns win.
According to my sources, Texas football coach Tom Herman could begin making changes to his coaching staff as early as this weekend, regardless of Texas Tech outcome on Friday. Bryan Carrington could be promoted to coach to hit the road recruiting on Monday. Stay tuned …

Texas has lost four of its past six games after beginning the season on a 4-1 run that included a near-victory against LSU, and the Tigers are currently the top-ranked team in the nation. The Longhorns also lost by only one score to No. 7-ranked Oklahoma, but they have since had bad losses to TCU and Iowa State. They also managed only 10 points in a 24-10 loss against Baylor last weekend.
Bryan Carrington is currently the director of recruiting for Texas, and Richardson’s report says he could be promoted to a coaching role so he can begin hitting the recruiting trail immediately.
Herman’s third season as the head coach at Texas has been his most disappointing, even if he has still shown some incredible enthusiasm in recent weeks. The Longhorns went 10-4 last year and won the Sugar Bowl, finishing ranked No. 9 in the nation. With their starting quarterback returning in Sam Ehlinger, no one expected Texas to be flirting with a .500 record this year.
