Clemson OC: Trevor Lawrence injury is neck-related

Trevor Lawrence

Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s injury has less to do with his head and more to do with his neck, according to the team’s co-offensive coordinator.

Tigers assistant Jeff Scott said Lawrence is still in protocol, but also has a chance to practice on Monday. Scott also noted that the Clemson medical staff believes the quarterback’s injury is neck-related and perhaps not a concussion.

“The medical staff sees a lot of positive signs and everything is tracking the right way,” Scott said, via David M. Hale of ESPN. “There’s a chance he’ll be able to practice [Monday]. They’re going to let him lift and go through their protocol they have. But they’ve been very optimistic, and they’re kind of finding out it’s more of a neck strain, with the way he got hit, so that’s good news. But no final decision has been made on that.”

Lawrence had previously been in the concussion protocol. However, if this isn’t a head injury, that’s definitely good news, and it sounds like he has a decent chance of playing Saturday.
