Curt Cignetti apparently gave one of his newest players a real ear-full before Indiana’s practice on Thursday.

Cignetti spoke with the media on Thursday after his defending national champion Hoosiers held a spring camp practice. He talked about wide receiver Nick Marsh, who has transferred from Michigan State to Indiana.

“I didn’t his love gold shoes he came out in today,” Cignetti said of Marsh. “He learned what getting your a– ripped is all about. I don’t know if that happened to him very often at Michigan State. That was before practice started. That was a wake-up call. But he’s really worked hard, done a great job for us.”

Indiana WR Nick Marsh wore gold cleats to IU's first spring camp session. Curt Cignetti was not pleased to see that.

Marsh did make an impression for something other than wearing gold cleats. He made a nice one-handed catch on a pass thrown behind him.

Marsh was a productive receiver in his two seasons at Michigan State. He had 59 catches for 662 yards and 6 touchdowns last season. He had 41 catches for 649 yards and 3 touchdowns the year before.

Indiana also got its first look at quarterback Josh Hoover, who has transferred to the Hoosiers from TCU. Indiana has 15 sessions prior to their April 23 spring game.
