The No. 10-seed Miami Hurricanes continue to defy expectations in the College Football Playoff. They are also making a lot of people look bad, especially their doubters, including former Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer.
Before Miami took on the No. 2-seed Ohio State on Wednesday at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Meyer appeared on the “Herd w/Colin Cowherd,” and issued his dire outlook for Miami, particularly for the Hurricanes’ attack against the stout Ohio State stop unit.
“I just don’t see Miami scoring. I’ve told people if Ohio State scores two touchdowns, they win that game. And I still believe that.”

The reality, however, did not conform to what Meyer envisioned the game would turn out to be, as Carson Beck and the Hurricanes found a way to gash the Buckeyes’ defense.
Miami did not score a ton of points, but it racked up 291 total yards and had as many first downs (18) as Ohio State. The Hurricanes kept their drives longer than many expected against Ohio State, as Miami went 7-of-14 on third downs.
Miami also weathered the Buckeyes’ offense. Ohio State was held scoreless in the first two periods, and quarterback Julian Sayin threw just a touchdown and was intercepted twice in the contest.
If there’s any consolation for Meyer, it’s that plenty of others doubted Miami as well.
