USC DE Jabari Ruffin ejected for stepping on opponent’s groin
USC senior defensive end Jabari Ruffin was ejected from Saturday’s game against Alabama after stepping on the groin of Alabama’s Anthony Averett after a play.
Bama had made the tackle on a kickoff return late in the second quarter and Averett was on the ground. Trojans kick returner Adoree’ Jackson was going to help up his opponent, but Ruffin had other ideas.
Ruffin stomped on Averett’s groin and was immediately flagged for a flagrant personal foul, which resulted in his ejection.
The penalty moved USC even closer to their goal line, and the Trojans ended up burned on a pick-six two plays later that gave Bama a 17-3 lead.
