West Virginia was almost the beneficiary of one of the wildest plays of the season during their game Thursday against Kansas State, but it was not to be.
The play in question happened on a third-and-11 from the K-State 23 in the second quarter with the Wildcats up 10-3. After it was determined that the ball hit the ground and was therefore an incompletion, West Virginia missed a 40-yard field goal to make matters worse.
So no touchdown, no field goal, and the ball hit the ground. You can see it more clearly in this video:
