Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been widely praised for the starring role he plays in his new upcoming film, and you need look no further than his physique to understand the level of dedication that went into the project.
Johnson, a wrestling legend and one of the highest-grossing actors of all time, has always been known for his hulking body. While the 53-year-old remains jacked, he recently lost a significant amount of weight to play the role of former MMA fighter Mark Kerr in “The Smashing Machine,” which will be released in theaters on Oct. 3.
The Rock said he lost around 60 pounds for the role, and it shows. Fans could not believe how slim he looked at some premiere events for “The Smashing Machine” over the weekend.

Johnson spoke during a press conference about how he felt he had been “pigeonholed” into specific Hollywood roles. Almost all of those roles have suited his enormous Herculean body type, but he says his latest role felt “more deep and intense.”
Johnson still makes some WWE appearances, so it will be interesting to see how much — if any — weight he puts on before his next. That may not happen for a while.
