Joey Chestnut had bold message for fans during Hot Dog Contest weather delay
Joey Chestnut had a bold message for the fans attending Tuesday’s Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Contest at Coney Island.
The men’s competition, which was scheduled to take place after the women’s competition was held, was canceled due to the weather. The stage was cleared, and fans were left disappointed by the development.
But Chestnut went out to talk with the fans in attendance. He had his game-face on and told the fans in no uncertain terms that they were going to make the competition happen.
“I’m gonna get the rest of the guys out and we’re gonna do this f***er,” Chestnut apparently said.
Hear me out, I’m not saying the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest is going to happen, but @joeyjaws just came out and said and I quote, “I’m gonna get the rest of the guys out and we’re gonna do this f***er.” #nathansfamous #ESPN pic.twitter.com/PhOTQGrKWv

Chestnut proved to be right.
After a delay due to the lightning and rain, the competition was back on. Chesnut was looking to win his 8th straight title and 16th overall.
