Report: 49ers lose Jerick McKinnon for season with ACL tear
Jerick McKinnon got the worst possible news on Saturday, and the San Francisco 49ers lost someone who was expected to be a big part of their offense.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, McKinnon suffered a torn ACL during Saturday’s practice and will miss the entire season.

It’s a brutal blow for the Niners. McKinnon was brought in to be San Francisco’s starting running back and dealt with a preseason knee injury, but he appeared to be healthy and avoided the worst before sustaining the ugly-looking injury in Saturday’s practice. To lose him this late in the preseason is a bitter blow.
Expect veteran Alfred Morris to get the bulk of the carries in McKinnon’s absence, with Matt Breida also in the mix.
