New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn had a testy exchange with a reporter over persistent questions about Aaron Rodgers.

The Jets will host the Pittsburgh Steelers, Rodgers’ new team, to open their season on Sunday, which inevitably led to questions about the former Jets quarterback. When one reporter asked what Glenn had seen on film that prompted him to want to move on from Rodgers, the coach refused to take the bait.

“That’s been gone, so I’m not going to answer questions about guys that aren’t here,” Glenn said. “Right now, I’m looking at what our guys can do.”

The reporter attempted to ask what Glenn sees when scouting Rodgers now, but the coach still was not having it.

“Like I said, I’m not going to sit here and answer questions on what I saw back then. It’s not relevant to right now,” Glenn said.

Aaron Glenn versus #Jets Media.

Media: When you were studying the film trying to decide whether to keep Aaron Rodgers or not, what did you see on film about what he has left at his age?

It is fair that Glenn would not want to discuss the decisions that went into dumping Rodgers right now. However, the two are facing each other this week, so Glenn’s thoughts on the opposing quarterback are certainly relevant to right now.

Rodgers did not respect how Glenn handled the quarterback’s release, so it is entirely plausible that Glenn does not want to give the opposing quarterback any more ammunition ahead of Week 1.

Glenn is entering his first year as Jets head coach, and has struck a confident tone so far. It will be interesting to see how his relationship with the notoriously tough New York media evolves, especially if his team gets off to a slow start.
