Another top NFL Draft prospect revealed that he fell victim to a prank call last Thursday as the NFL continues looking into leaks of draftees’ phone numbers.

Defensive end Abdul Carter also received a prank call at the start of the draft, it was revealed Wednesday. Carter’s agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Carter received a call from someone claiming to be with the Jacksonville Jaguars while they were on the clock at No. 2 overall. The prank caller informed Carter that the Jaguars were planning to take him, though the team ultimately selected Travis Hunter.

“It’s unfortunate that these private numbers are getting to the people making the prank calls,” Rosenhaus said. “Abdul and I knew it was BS and didn’t even tell his family about the call.”

The pranks keep coming: it turns out that Abdul Carter also got a prank call during the second pick in which the caller said he was from the Jaguars and they were going to select him with the No. 2 overall pick. “It’s unfortunate that these private numbers are getting to the… pic.twitter.com/ypTsnrSpcq

Carter did not have to wait long for things to be made right, as the New York Giants selected him with the No. 3 overall pick. Some others were not so lucky, as Shedeur Sanders had to wait three more rounds to be selected after he fell victim to a similar prank.

At least one other first-round pick other than Carter was also pranked during the draft.

Mark Maske of the Washington Post reported that as many as six or seven draftees fell victim to prank calls, and that the league is investigating how the private numbers of those draftees were obtained. That is an alarmingly high number, as only about 40 players had their numbers distributed to teams by the NFL.

The NFL believes about six to seven prank calls were made to players during the draft, including such calls to Tyler Warren and to Kyle McCord.

The NFL came down hard on the source of the Sanders prank earlier Wednesday. Presumably, they will do the same in other cases if it is determined that a team and its employees were the source of the leaked phone numbers.
