Did Adam Schefter use illegal stream to watch Thursday Night Football?

Fans noticed something interesting about a clip ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared on social media during the “Thursday Night Football” game between the Houston Texans and New York Jets.

Jets rookie wide receiver Malachi Corley committed arguably the biggest blunder of the season in the second quarter of New York’s 21-13 win over the Jets at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Corley had an easy touchdown on a designed run play, but he let go of the ball before he crossed the goal line. The ball went out of the back of the end zone, resulting in a touchback for Houston.

Schefter was among the millions of people who shared the video of Corley’s mind-blowing mistake:

If you notice, the top left of Schefter’s clip shows that it was taken from an illegal streaming website. The service is the same one a Seattle Seahawks player was recently caught using to watch one of his own team’s games.

Woolen admitted that he was watching the game through an illegal stream, but was the same true for Schefter? Almost certainly not. The same clip with the same website stamp had circulated on social media before Schefter shared it on his own X account. Schefter just grabbed it from someone else and sent it out to his more than 11 million followers.

Still, it was notable to see an illegal stream stamp on a clip that was shared by the NFL’s most well-known reporter. Schefty will probably be more cautious of the source next time.
