Adam Vinatieri took a shot at Bill Belichick during his speech Saturday inducting him into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The legendary former New England Patriots kicker paid tribute to Belichick during his speech in Canton, Oh. on Saturday, but also had some fun with his former coach. After a number of heartfelt words about how much Belichick helped him, Vinatieri went for the jugular.
“Unfortunately, Bill couldn’t make it here today. There’s a lot going on at UNC right now,” Vinatieri said. “He may be on a recruiting trip right now looking for the next Lawrence Taylor. I thought it was because training camp had already started, but in truth, it’s because he’s judging his girlfriend’s cheerleading competition.”

To be clear, Vinatieri’s jokes were not limited to Belichick. He also jokingly thanked Peyton Manning for “generously donating your forehead for today’s teleprompter.”

Belichick was, in fact, not present for Saturday’s ceremony despite Vinatieri’s induction. At this point, jokes about him and Jordon Hudson are becoming something of a tradition at the Hall of Fame ceremony.
