AJ Green unlikely to be ready for season opener with torn ankle ligaments
The Cincinnati Bengals got very bad news about star wide receiver A.J. Green on Sunday.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Green suffered torn ligaments in his left ankle when landing awkwardly during Saturday’s practice. The injury is likely to sideline him for six to eight weeks, and he is unlikely to be ready for the regular season opener. An eight week recovery would mean he wouldn’t be ready for action until around the start of October.
An MRI revealed that Bengals’ WR A.J. Green has torn ligaments in his left ankle that is likely to sideline him six to eight weeks, source tells ESPN. Green is not expected to be ready for the regular-season opener at Seattle.

Green had problems with his other foot last year, making this all the more frustrating. Add in the sense from some within the Bengals that this may have been preventable with a better field and it’s a hard one to swallow from Cincinnati’s perspective.
Green has six 1,000-yard seasons to his name. This will be the second year in a row that he is at least partially limited due to injury.
