Andre Roberts, Bashaud Breeland at center of Redskins practice fight (Video)

A fight broke out at Washington Redskins practice on Wednesday, and it was more than your standard shoving match. Some big-time haymakers were thrown.

According to Tarik El-Bashir of CSNWashington.com, the scuffle started after cornerback Bashaud Breeland was in tight coverage on wide receiver Andre Roberts on a deep pass from Colt McCoy. Roberts was unable to make the catch, and both players fell to the ground.

Breeland held his groin area with both hands as he got to his feet, indicating that he had suffered some sort of injury. The rookie then collected himself and returned to the sideline. Next thing you know, Roberts slammed his helmet down and blows were being throw.

Teammates stepped in to break the fight up. Reporters were then told that the open portion of practice had ended and were asked to leave.

Anyone who covers the NFL knows that fights like this break out at practice all the time. If you want to see Richard Sherman going at it with one of his teammates just months after the Seattle Seahawks won the Super Bowl, you can watch that fight here.

The reason Wednesday’s fight will get so much attention is the Redskins are 3-10 and one of the most dysfunctional teams in football. A practice fight is simply more publicity that they don’t need.
