Andrew Luck has setback with shoulder, won’t practice this week

Andrew Luck

Andrew Luck has suffered a setback with his surgically-repaired shoulder, and the Indianapolis Colts quarterback will reportedly be held out of practice this week because of it.

Colts general manager Chris Ballard called an unscheduled press conference on Wednesday to inform reporters that Luck has been experiencing soreness in his throwing shoulder and needed a cortisone injection.

While Colts doctors told the team soreness is just part of the recovery process, that obviously isn’t good news. Ballard said there are no plans to place Luck on injured reserve at the moment and that he does not believe he will be held out of practice for an extended period of time.

Luck has clearly come along a lot slower than the Colts expected him to. If they knew he would be out through Week 7 and likely beyond, they would have placed him on injured reserve or the physically unable to perform list to start the season. The fact that they did not means they were hopeful the quarterback would return sooner.
