Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid doesn’t seem to think that the team has much of a quarterback competition.
Reid said on Monday that Alex Smith, who was held out of Kansas City’s Week 9 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, will start in Week 10 against the Carolina Panthers, per Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star.
Reid says Alex Smith will start Sunday against Carolina.

Smith was concussed in Week 8 against the Indianapolis Colts (video here), opening the door for backup Nick Foles and prompting Smith’s wife to go on the defensive against those who began claiming that the Chiefs were better off with Foles under center. Foles drew the start in Week 9 but didn’t blow anyone away, throwing for 187 yards and a touchdown.
With 1,638 passing yards and eight touchdowns to go along with just two interceptions in seven starts this year, the starting gig still appears to be firmly in Smith’s grasp, at least for the time being.
