Anthony Richardson’s agent discussed a possible trade with Colts

For now, the Indianapolis Colts are holding on to quarterback Anthony Richardson, but the player’s camp has given at least some thought to a potential trade.

Richardson’s agent, Deiric Jackson, met privately with Colts general manager Chris Ballard last week, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Jackson said the meeting was “very constructive” and served as an opportunity to “let feelings be known.”

Richardson’s camp did not request a trade during the meeting. However, according to Fowler, the topic was “broached,” with Ballard stating that the Colts still have no intention of trading the quarterback.

Relations between Richardson and the Colts are strained after Daniel Jones beat him out for the team’s starting quarterback job. Richardson’s agent openly questioned whether his client could still trust the Colts after they decided to bench him.

Jones is by no means a certainty to perform well, and Richardson is one injury away from starting again. The Colts did not want to go into the season with bad feelings lingering if they could help it, and it does seem that the two sides, at least for now, have come to some sort of truce.

Richardson has 11 touchdown passes compared to 13 interceptions in 15 career games, and has struggled to stay healthy. He is still just 23, which is part of why the Colts are still reluctant to cut bait on him.
