Antonio Callaway to appeal 10-game suspension, says it was tainted CBD product
Antonio Callaway’s time with the Cleveland Browns has come to an end as the wide receiver was waived on Thursday amid tardiness and a looming suspension, according to reports.
Callaway was a healthy scratch for last weekend’s game against Buffalo for being late to the team’s reporting time for the game. He reportedly was late again this week.
Source says Antonio Callaway was late again this week – just days after showing up past the scheduled time for the Buffalo game — and the team is bracing for another potential drug-related suspension with the NFL. A second suspension would result in 10 games missed. Team fed up.

The former fourth-round pick, who had character concerns entering the league, was also suspended four games to start this season. Now he is facing a 10-game suspension that he plans to appeal, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. Callaway believes his positive drug test stems from a tainted CBD product.
Callaway has told those poised to administer the suspension that it stems from a tainted CBD product. The drug policy is usually very strict, though, about players knowing what they put in their bodies. https://t.co/DJmAPpubRP

Between the lateness issues and suspension, the Browns had enough with Callaway.
The 22-year-old had eight catches for 89 yards this season. Last season he had 43 catches for 586 yards and five touchdowns. The Browns really should not be surprised by this outcome considering Callaway tested positive for marijuana at the scouting combine.
