Antonio Smith ripped off Richie Incognito’s helmet, hit him with it (Video)
Houston Texans defensive end Antonio Smith could be facing a suspension from the league after ripping off Richie Incognito’s helmet during a preseason game on Saturday and hitting the Miami Dolphins lineman in the head with it.
A video obtained by FOX NFL reporter Jay Glazer shown on the premier of “FOX Football Daily” Monday showed Smith and Incognito going head-to-head on a play. Smith got frustrated while rushing the passer — possibly because of Incognito’s hands to the face — and he ripped off Incognito’s helmet and hit the lineman in the chin with it.
Dolphins coach Joe Philbin sent the video to the league for review.
NFL officials/rules guru Mike Pereira believes the league could suspend Smith because he committed a “non-football act.”
Smith and Incognito have a history. Last year, Smith accused Incognito of playing dirty in their September game. Smith was fined $21,000 last year for kicking Incognito while he was on the ground. He had the fine reduced to $11,000 on appeal.
