Arthur Jones, a former Super Bowl champion defensive lineman with the Baltimore Ravens, has died suddenly at the age of 39.
No cause of death has been revealed.
The Ravens confirmed Jones’ death on Friday. General manager Eric DeCosta said Jones was “a gift to everyone he encountered,” and sent his deepest condolences to Jones’ family and friends.

Jones came from a high-profile family of athletes. His younger brothers are former UFC champion Jon Jones and former All-Pro defensive end Chandler Jones. Arthur became a standout player at Syracuse and was selected in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Ravens.
With Baltimore, Jones played his way into a prominent role for the Ravens team that won Super Bowl XLVII on Feb. 3, 2013. He played in 16 games with six starts for the Ravens that year, and had nine total tackles and two fumble recoveries during the team’s playoff run. He also collected a sack during the Super Bowl win.

Jones also spent brief periods with the Indianapolis Colts and Washington Commanders during his playing career, which was interrupted by a suspension in 2016 for violating the NFL’s drug policy. He retired from the NFL at the end of the 2017 season after playing in 64 career games with 10 sacks.
