Austin Seferian-Jenkins blames himself for controversial fumble
Many may blame NFL officiating for playing a role in the New York Jets’ loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday, but tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins only blamed himself.
Seferian-Jenkins was ruled to have fumbled just shy of the end zone on a play that would have cut New England’s lead to 24-20 in the second half, though the play was originally ruled a touchdown and many observers were dumbfounded by the reversal on replay. The tight end was making no excuses after the game, however.
Jets TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins: “I’ve got to have better ball security and run through those defenders. I let my team down.”

Seferian-Jenkins ended up with eight catches and a touchdown. It’s pretty safe to say that he will duck most of the blame for this one despite the fumble ruling.
