Baker Mayfield downplays Manziel comparisons, calls himself best QB in draft
Baker Mayfield certainly cannot be accused of lacking in confidence.
The Oklahoma quarterback spoke to media at the NFL Combine on Friday, and he called himself the best quarterback in the draft in a series of remarks that bordered on cockiness.
Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield said Johnny Manziel comparisons aren't his favorite thing, emphasized they're completely different people adds 'I'm the most accurate quarterback in this draft' when asked if he's the best he answered 'absolutely' pic.twitter.com/pKsRaDT9zA

Mayfield even compared himself specifically to other quarterbacks — and argued against the notion that he’s too cocky.
Mayfield: Height doesn’t matter. I got three years of tape you can watch. I have fewer passes batted down than other guys here and I’m pretty sure I’m shorter.

Mayfield: “I don’t think I’m cocky. It’s not cocky, it’s just confident.”

It’s all in the eye of the beholder. He’s certainly shown off his confidence in other ways, and perhaps some teams will be both intrigued and wary of his talk. It will ultimately come down to whether he can back it up — if he can do that, nobody’s going to be too bothered, but if he can’t live up to his own hype, a lot of people are going to jump on him.
