The team has liked Trubisky’s attitude since the Nick Foles trade and it’ll be an open competition. A chance for Trubisky to make himself a lot of money before his contract expires next March.

Trubisky is in the final season of his rookie deal and has a $9.3 million cap hit for 2020. As a former first-round pick, the team had an option to keep Trubisky for a fifth year but are turning that down.
The Bears sent a message to Trubisky earlier this offseason by trading for Nick Foles, who will compete with the youngster for the starting quarterback job. A report last week said the team was expected to decline Trubisky’s option.
The Bears have said they will have an open competition for the starting quarterback job.
Chicago traded up to the No. 2 spot to take Trubisky in 2017 and has been widely criticized. Not only did they take Trubisky over Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes, but they traded up to do so, showing just how confident they were in him. That was a major, franchise-changing miss.
