Last year, Cincinnati Bengals punter Kevin Huber was on the wrong end of a devastating hit delivered by Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Terence Garvin during a return touchdown by Antonio Brown. The result was a broken jaw for Huber and while Garvin wasn’t penalized for the hit, he was later fined $25,000.
With the Steelers coming to town next weekend, Huber appears to be making preparations that don’t have to do with punting technique. The veteran is considering an upgrade to his face mask just to be on the safe side, should a similar incident occur again.
“It’s steelers week! Time to upgrade my face mask to keep my face in one piece!! #brokenjawproblems” Huber wrote on Twitter.
You can’t fault Huber for being proactive. I would probably go with the one on the far left.
