Bill Belichick shares his criticism of Drake Maye
Bill Belichick shared some criticism of Drake Maye while providing some analysis during Thursday’s NFL Draft.
Belichick appeared on the set for “The Pat McAfee Show’s” coverage of the draft for ESPN. The former New England Patriots head coach talked about several of the quarterback prospects and was directed to provide some areas each player needs to improve.
When it comes to Drake Maye, Belichick thinks the North Carolina product needs to work on his footwork.
“Drake Maye, his footwork needs a lot of work,” Belichick said.

Belichick still had Maye ranked as his third-best quarterback prospect in the draft, behind Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels, but the footwork is an area of improvement for Maye.
Many people found Belichick’s analysis of Maye to be particularly notable because of the expectation that the Patriots might select the former North Carolina quarterback No. 3 overall. The team ended up taking Maye No. 3, as many expected.
One other analyst issued a warning to teams about potentially drafting Maye.
