Bill Belichick once had legendary quote after not converting on 4th down

Bill-Belichick

Bill Belichick is seemingly a man of very few words. When it comes to dealing with the media, he’s irritable, sarcastic, impatient and a whole bunch of other unflattering adjectives. So when Belichick’s current and former players say he is actually a pretty funny guy, most people are confused.

In a recent feature from ESPN’s Seth Wickersham, we get a small glimpse of the type of sense of humor Belichick has — even if it comes out when he’s frustrated with his team. After a blowout win over the Redskins in 2007, Belichick was doing what he always does in trying to point out things his team needs to improve on. One play he was unhappy about was when the Patriots failed to convert on a 4th-and-inches situation during the 52-7 victory.

You might want to sit down for this one.

“Fourth and the size of my d— and we can’t get the first down?” Belichick asked his team, according to Wickersham.

We have no idea how Wickersham was able to confirm that those words came out of Belichick’s mouth, but I’m going to believe they did until the day I die.

Belichick has given us plenty of hilarious moments during press conferences (here’s a great example) even when he doesn’t mean to be funny, but nothing like that. That quote should be on The Hoodie’s plaque in the Hall of Fame one day.
