Bills release Karlos Williams
Karlos Williams’ disastrous offseason has cost him his job with the Buffalo Bills.
The Bills announced on their website Saturday that they have released Williams.
Williams was a fifth-round pick by the Bills last year and put together a strong rookie showing for Buffalo. He rushed for 517 yards and seven touchdowns and caught two receiving TDs. However, Williams did not train during the offseason like he wanted to improve upon last season’s success, much less maintain his previous level of play. The running back showed up to camp heavily overweight and blamed his fiancee’s pregnancy as the reason. As if that weren’t enough, he then was suspended four games for a violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.
Williams finally passed his physical this week, but he was buried on the Bills’ depth chart, which is leading to his release. In addition to LeSean McCoy, newly signed Reggie Bush, as well as Mike Gillislee, Jonathan Williams, James Wilder and Boom Herron were all said to be above Williams on the Bills’ depth chart.
