Karlos Williams suspended four games for violating NFL substance abuse policy

Karlos-Williams

After dodging one suspension to an impact running back earlier this week, the Buffalo Bills just got smacked in the face by another.

According to a report by Ian Rapoport of NFL.com on Friday, Bills running back Karlos Williams has been suspended four games for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

“As an organization, we are disappointed that Karlos has put himself in this situation,” the Bills said in an official statement, per Tyler Dunne of The Buffalo News. “Poor decisions such as this affect not only the individual, but the entire Bills organization. We will continue to work with Karlos through the various player programs we provide to assist him in making better decisions moving forward.”

The 23-year-old Williams, the Bills’ fifth-round draft pick in 2015, rushed for 517 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie last year. He has been having an offseason to forget, however, as he was held out of team minicamp after showing up noticeably overweight and giving a strange reason for the extra pounds.

Bills starting running back LeSean McCoy was just announced on Tuesday to have escaped punishment for a February nightclub brawl, and now his health/production will be of the utmost importance to the team with Williams suspended for a quarter of the 2016 campaign. On the bright side though, Williams should now have plenty of time to get himself into football shape.
