Brandon Browner sentenced to 8 years in prison for attempted murder
Former NFL defensive back Brandon Browner pleaded no contest to an attempted murder charge on Tuesday, and he will now be going to prison for a very long time.
According to TMZ, a judge sentenced Browner to eight years in a state prison. The 34-year-old was arrested back in July after he was accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and assaulting her. The police report stated that Browner “chased the victim, dragged her and then smothered her in a carpet.” He was also accused of stealing a Rolex watch before fleeing the scene.
Browner pleaded no contest to one count of attempted murder and two counts of willful child endangerment in exchange for other charges of robbery, burglary and false imprisonment being dropped. He was initially facing life in prison.
A former Pro Bowler who won Super Bowls with the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots, Browner has been in trouble with the law numerous times. He was arrested last year for allegedly making criminal threats against a woman and then booked again a month later for drug possession.
