Brandon Marshall plans to carry penalty flag to police Byron Maxwell

New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall wasn’t totally happy with how things were officiated the last time he went up against Miami cornerback Bryon Maxwell. On Sunday, he’s taking matters into his own hands.

The last time the pair met, Marshall ripped Maxwell for what he felt was constant illegal holding, and it’s a beef that goes back over a year. So on Sunday, Marshall told reporters that he plans to carry his own penalty flag with him in order to police Maxwell’s alleged holding.

“I’m just here to help out,” Marshall grinned, via Connor Hughes of NJ Advance Media.

“He’s the same guy,” Marshall added of Maxwell. “I will be carrying my own flag just in case he decides to conduct himself the same way. I will help the refs out.”

Marshall did have a little praise for Maxwell.

“There has been some progress,” Marshall said. “He went from being the league’s top guy in holding, not even close, to just being the top guy in holding. So, he has made progress.

“He’s just doing a better job taking it from every play, to every other play.”

Maxwell has said in the past that he never holds. Marshall would clearly disagree, and we look forward to seeing if he actually employs his own personal flag when the duo face off Sunday.
