Ex-Lions TE Brandon Pettigrew arrested following incident inside 7-Eleven

Officers point tasers at Brandon Pettigrew

Former Detroit Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew was arrested over the weekend following an incident at a convenience store in Texas.

According to a report from TMZ, police were called to a 7-Eleven convenience store in Dallas at around 2 a.m. Sunday morning after Pettigrew allegedly became aggressive during an argument inside the store. As officers were talking with Pettigrew, the 39-year-old appeared to become angry and punched the door leading into the store, causing the glass to break.

Police eventually drew their Tasers on Pettigrew, but he was arrested without further issue. Surveillance footage from inside the store showed some of what happened:

It is unclear why Pettigrew was angry or what led to police being called to the store. Police say the 6-foot-5 Pettigrew was taken to Dallas County Jail and booked on a charge of criminal mischief. He was released on Sunday afternoon.

Pettigrew spent his entire eight-year NFL career with the Lions after they drafted him with the 20th overall pick in 2009. The former Oklahoma State star’s best NFL season was in 2011, when he caught 83 passes for 777 yards and five touchdowns. Pettigrew finished with 301 catches for 2,965 yards and 17 touchdowns in his career.

This is not the first time Pettigrew has been arrested. He was taken into custody in 2017 following an alleged disturbance at a bar and again in 2018 after he was accused of punching a police officer.
