Brandon Staley entered the season on the hot seat. The way his Los Angeles Chargers played on Thursday night could not have hurt his job status more.

Staley’s Chargers came out completely flat in their Week 15 game against the Las Vegas Raiders and were destroyed 63-21 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev.

The loss was the Chargers’ 5th in their last 6 games and drops them to 5-9.

Naturally, Staley faced questions after the horrific loss about whether he should keep his job.

Staley said he should remain the coach but he doesn’t know if they will keep him.

“I know that what I’ve done here for three years … I know the type of coach that I am. I believe in myself,” Staley said when asked why he should keep the job.

The Chargers’ ugly loss to the Raiders comes four days after they lost 24-7 to the Denver Broncos in a game where Justin Herbert suffered a season-ending injury. Even more embarrassing, the Raiders’ 63-point outburst comes four days ater they were shutout in a 3-0 loss to the Vikings.

Staley is in his third season as the Chargers’ head coach.
