Brett Favre Accused of Sexual Harassment by Massage Therapist, Called ‘Scumbag’

Brett Favre first got into trouble when Deadspin wrote that the quarterback inappropriately contacted former Jets employee Jenn Sterger when both were with the team. The story seemed to go away, but it was revived this week when Deadspin released alleged voicemails from Favre to Sterger along with some penis pictures in anticipation of the Vikings-Jets game. I initially argued that Brett Favre’s case was different from Tiger Woods. With more information emerging, I may have to revise that stance.

After reading about Favre’s inappropriate contact with Sterger in the New York Post, a former part-time Jets’ employees contacted both Deadspin and the Post about similar issues with Favre. The massage therapist says Favre was ogling her and invited her and another masseuse to his hotel room. She says she received “phone calls, “e-mails and texts from Favre saying, ‘Why don’t you and your friend come over . . . I have all these bad intentions.” The woman’s husband called Favre asking for an apology and called the quarterback a ****** scumbag.

Now that Sterger’s story has been corroborated by another former Jets employee, it appears as if a serious problem could be emerging. This now looks like a pattern of behavior rather than just an isolated incident. Favre may receive enough public pressure to change his inappropriate ways, and the league may be pressed to discipline him under the personal conduct policy. And at this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if the women start emerging on a weekly basis, a la Tiger Woods.
