Broncos to acquire AJ Bouye in trade with Jaguars

The Denver Broncos have made the first significant trade of the NFL offseason.

As first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jacksonville Jaguars will trade cornerback A.J. Bouye to the the Denver Broncos in exchange for a fourth-round pick. The trade will become official on March 18, the start of the new league year.

The Jaguars are dealing with pretty significant cap issues, and moving Bouye is likely the start of dealing with them. He has a $13 million base salary for both 2020 and 2021.

Denver takes full advantage and gets significant and much-needed secondary help. Bouye is only 28 and should contribute reliably going forward. The trade does, however, likely mean the end of Chris Harris in Denver.

In three seasons with Jacksonville, Bouye played in 43 games and intercepted eight passes. He was a key part of the secondary that helped lead the Jaguars to the 2017 AFC Championship game.
