Report: Broncos have shown ‘most interest’ in Ryan Fitzpatrick
The Denver Broncos are reportedly players in the Ryan Fitzpatrick sweepstakes after all.
According to Jason Cole of Bleacher Report, the Broncos have shown the “most interest” in Fitzpatrick if he does not return to the Jets, and have done background work on him to see how he would fit in as a potential leader on a reigning champion.
However, Denver is unwilling to bend to Fitzpatrick’s $16-$18 million demands, much like other teams, who Cole says view him as a “super backup.” Cole says it’s unclear where the Broncos are with regards to Fitzpatrick’s demands, but they are not close to matching them.
It’s reportedly the same story everywhere with Fitzpatrick, and it affirms a previous report. Teams are interested, and the Jets want him back, but they’ve reportedly only offered $7 million and seem to be waiting on him to blink first with regards to his demands. The Broncos are apparently in the same boat. They like Fitzpatrick, but not enough to pay him starting quarterback money. It’s almost certain that he’ll have to lower his demands before he finds a job.
